1965 Volvo Amazon Historic Rally Car

This excellent 1965 rally amazon is the result of a 6 year nut and bolt restoration by a retired engine and vehicle test engineer.All parts are either new or fully refurbished. This car has been prepared to a very high standard to compete on events like the Rally of the Test and LeJog. The restoration was completed in 2019 and the car has covered only 970 miles since completion. This car has successfully finished 2020 Rally Revival and the 2022 Shaw Trophy Targa Rally, winning a best prepared car trophy in each event.The car is competition proven and ready for its next event.

Specification

Bodyshell
Repaired and strengthend as necessary and fully resprayed. Fiberglass Bonnet and boot, polycarbonate side windows. FIA seat rails bucket seats and four point harness. Aluminum sumpguard, tubular jacking points ,Simonz 2inch exhaust system with high level back box.

Suspension
Bilstein dampers,bespoke road springs, seam welded and strengthened front cross member, fully polybushed ,strengthened bottom wishbones,spicer rear axle.

Transmission
Rebuilt 4 speed volvo gearbox, std volvo clutch two piece propshaft new centre bearing and ujs. Rebuilt spicer rear axle with 4.88 cwp and gripper lsd.

Fuel system
50litre boot mounted aluminum fuel tank, twin facet fuel pumps,internal hoses in aeroquip,Malpassi filter king feeding twin 1 3/4 ” SU carburettors with bespoke mixture needles, Amazon cars cool air filtration system.

Engine
B18 engine with Tinus Tuning pistons and con rods. Gas flowed head with b20 valves competition valve springs heavy duty followers and pushrods.Tinnus Tuning TT8B Camshaft , twin SU carbs ,lightweight flywheel,baffled sump,oil cooler, large core radiator,additional electric fan.

Brakes
Twin circuit with balance bar,new front discs and hubs and remanufactured calipers Mintex M 1144 Pads. Refurbished rear drums with standard linings. Centre mounted hydraulic handbrake with existing cable system all brake lines are stainless steel aeroquip.

Wheels 6 off 5.5 J kn Minators fitted with 185 65 15 yokohama W drive winter tyres.
All additional wiring professionaly installed with fuses, relays and thin wall cable
Period Yazaki tachometer with stack oil pressure,oil temperature and water temperature gauges.Brantz trip meter and clock,battery master switch and high output Denso alternator.
